T-STEP

The T-Step tactile tile system is made in accordance with the dimensional parameters of Technical Standard BS 7997:2003. This is the closest standard to the Tenji blocks initially developed in Japan in 1965 by Seiichi Miyake. Introduced a few years later for practical testing, the use of tactile pathways gradually spread throughout Japan and then around the world. The English standard starts with Japanese attention and walking codes and then expands the language with more precise and detailed distinctive codes.

The U.K. Department of Transport’s guidelines on the installation and use of routes for the blind and visually impaired also pays special attention to the role of color contrast. In particular, red is preferred for codes reserved for crosswalks and yellow for those used in public transport.

As well as the various JKJ systems, T-Step can also provide users with voice information in addition to the primary tactile information, where the route has been equipped with specially programmed RFG tags.

T-Step is made of M-PVC-P and can be supplied with or without double-sided adhesive for indoor and outdoor installations. The various codes can be easily installed on pre-existing pavement saving on construction time and construction costs.
